How to get to the island and travel around during your stay

1. Smyril – The Ferry Between Tórshavn and Suðuroy

The ferry Smyril sails between Tórshavn and Krambatangi (right next to the Penthouse). The crossing takes about 2 hours.

Booking – Important

• You MUST book your ticket in advance.
• Tickets can no longer be purchased at the terminal.
• All bookings are made online at ssl.fo

This applies to both passengers and cars.

Arrival

• The ferry arrives at Krambatangi harbour, only 1 minute from the Penthouse.
• You drive straight off the ferry and are there immediately.

🚌 Buses on Suðuroy (Bygdaleiðir)

There are two bus lines on Suðuroy, and both stop at Krambatangi (listed as Ferjulegan in the timetable). This means guests without a car can take the bus directly from the ferry.

Bus 700 – Sumba ↔ Vágur ↔ Tvøroyri

Connects the southern part of the island with Tvøroyri. Stops at Krambatangi.

Route: Sumba – Lopra – Vágur – Porkeri – Hov – Øravík – Tvøroyri

Bus 701 – Fámjin ↔ Tvøroyri ↔ Sandvík

Connects the northern part of the island with Tvøroyri. Also stops at Krambatangi.

Route: Fámjin – Øravík – Tvøroyri – Nes – Hvalba – Sandvík

• Hvalba: 10.7 km – 11 min
• Vágur: approx. 15 km – 15 min
• Fámjin: 11.3 km – 15 min
• Sandvík: 15.8 km – 19 min
• Sumba: 26.7 km – 27 min
• Akraberg: 29.1 km – 31 min

Parking is free almost everywhere.
